Previously, in one of my articles I referenced a site that was helpful to children of aging parents.
The blog was “NewOldAge”. The blog by Paula Span “explores the unprecedented challenges posed by a rapidly aging population.”
Happily, though the blog in its original format was discontinued, my researcher tracked down how to access the many helpful articles that cover the topics of ‘new old aging’.
You can find the many articles by accessing… nytimes.com/health and then click on the new old age page.
A sampling of the most recent articles, (still written by Paula Span) include:
“We Need Each Other’: Seniors Are Drawn to New Housing Arrangements”
“For Older Patients, an ‘Afterworld’ of Hospital Care” (dealing with long term care)
“Think Your Aging Parents Are Stubborn? Blame ‘Mismatched Goals”
And some answers to the question of…”Why Seniors are not using Uber or Lyft?”
If you are a child who is responsible for the care of your parents, or just want to learn more about the challenges of aging, I encourage you to read some the articles on the “new” blog.
The list of insightful topics include: ageism; prescription drugs; the effect of antibiotics; dementia; dialysis; Medicare and More.
