From our friends at Investopedia.com is an article: (October 31, 2018 updated) by Bobbi Dempsey “Debt Forgiveness: Escape Your Student Loans” ..under Military Forgiveness
According to the article: “Student loans can be forgiven by as much as $65,000 through the Military College Loan Repayment Program (CLRP.) This figure depends on the length of time you serve your contract with the military, and the level of forgiveness depends on which branch of the military you join.”
In order to qualify for the CLRP, you must be a new recruit or (in some cases) you must reenlist. If student loan forgiveness is important to you…Check with the recruitment office to see which loans qualify for this program. Not all loans qualify and there are a number of rules.
For some basic information go to: https://www.thebalancecareers.com or
www.military.com.
Note: The College Loan Repayment Program (CLRP) is an enlistment incentive for new recruits to the U.S. military, so in order to qualify you must be a new recruit (or in some cases you must reenlist).
Each branch of the military may offer programs in order to meet established recruiting goals. Therefore, each branch of the military may offer a different type of ‘tuition loan repayment’ program.
