In 2019 the health FSA limit will be $2,700. Consult with your employer.
This is the link for more information about FSA: https://www.healthcare.gov/have-job-based-coverage/flexible-spending-accounts/
According to the government site: “If you have a health plan through a job, you can use a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for copayments, deductibles, some drugs, and some other health care costs. Using an FSA can reduce your taxes.”
In most cases you can use the funds for healthcare expenses, and some expenses you may not have thought. For example, depending on the FSA, things like contact lenses, eye glasses, contact lens solution and prescription eye drops.
There are some ‘limited purpose’ FSA’s that are restricted to dental and vision. Consult with your employer.
One thing to keep in mind is that plans do not ‘carry over’ all unused funds from one year to another. If you do not use all of the funds within the year, you may have lost the opportunity to utilize some of those funds. Consult with your employer.
Check with your specific FSA plan about deadlines and ‘carryover’ and take full advantage of the FSA account within the year.
