According to a recent study*, there were certain states that handled the mental health well-being of their population better than others.
The study took into account 7 variable factors for good mental health, among them accessibility and cost of mental health care as well as quality of life in each state. Those factors were assigned a 'weight'; scores compiled and then compared for each city.
A maximum total score of 50 was possible, which no state obtained.
However, Denver, Colorado ranked number one with a mental health score of 40 out of 50. Second place went to Minneapolis, Minnesota and third place was Salt Lake City, Utah.
Denver also ranked in the top ten as best city for access to mental health care and lowest prescription costs. According to the data in the study, "Colorado boasts a very low average therapy session rate of $115...(and) one mental health provider per 170 residents..."
Admittedly, this is only one of many mental health studies; however, it is an indicator of how well each state has been able to deal with recent mental health issues for their population.
I have often written that estate planning deals with the "what ifs..." of life. Divorce, remarriage, changes in finances and concerns about health all provide stressors in your life.
An estate plan can address those stressors by establishing a unique long-range plan for your future and the future of your loved ones.
